Day 5: Happy Birthday to Charlene! Celebrating in style in beautiful, historic Santa Fe!

What a day! Since Santa Fe is steeped in history, most of the kiddos decided it was prime time to break out their cowboy duds – hats, bandanas, boots, the works! So fun seeing them embrace the spirit of the Old West for Charlene's special day.

We kicked things off with a birthday breakfast at Tia Sophia's downtown – Charlene’s pick and a definite highlight! Such kind staff, and the food was amazing. This spot is said to be where the breakfast burrito was born (served red, green, or Christmas style with chili sauces!). The blue corn pancakes were a huge hit too! 

After fueling up, we wandered historic downtown, hopped on a trolley tour (learning cool facts like one street being 800 years old and the Santa Fe Trail ending right in town!), and popped into the beautiful La Fonda hotel – a special request from Caleb’s grandmother who has fond memories of eating there. Love those family connections! 

It IS a birthday, so... ice cream for lunch it was! Oasis Ice Cream had some incredibly creative and yummy treats. We also couldn't resist sampling some rich drinking chocolates from a local shop. Charlene even squeezed in some thrift store Browse!

We’re ending this wonderful birthday back at the Rodeo de Santa Fe, hanging out with the horses behind "Buzz" and enjoying the panoramic mountain views as the sun sets. A perfect, peaceful end to a joy-filled celebration. So much to be thankful for!
